Okay this cd is full of a lot of classic material but in all fairness it's well compiled and well produced. Probably one of the best classic compilations i now own, thats why i can't fault it. Also some great new stuff on disc 3 - one example filo/peri - anthem. Best trance tune to be produced in a long while. Gatecrasher 14th birthday 22nd September at magna is what it's all about and the album ties in with the event. I also wish people would stop complaining about the state of trance. This album has nothing to do with the lack of new trance. As a DJ myself i would seriously recommend anyone saying trance is in a poor state to take a look at some of the artists on anjunabeats and state of trance labels. Above and Beyond are frontlining some of the most exciting new progressive trance i have heard in ages. Not to mention upcoming artists like sophie sugar. I agree that we all look back at some of the ground breaking compliations from gatecrasher such as wet, black, red, redisdent transmission etc, but times have changed and now it's up to you to go find the trance you so desire cause unfortunatly gatecrasher compilations aren't going to provide you with anything totally fresh.

Louder and louder, invading every night club and making more and more people dance. End of the eighties, the rock scene was exhausted, almost over. And it was like nobody could resist to that fresh flavour. Once upon a time, there was the French touch (as the British called them), time of glory where decades of new artists suddenly appeared on stage. Some of them were friends in the same school of Versailles. Others met in the same parties or were in the same network. All together, they share the same idea: to break the music walls and to create a new sound by mixing electro, rock and pop beats. It was hard to see them, hidden behind there laptops. But their names begin to travel all "around the world", from Europe to Japan. Laurent Garnier, Charles Schillings, Air, Etienne de Crecy, Alex Gopher, Cassius or Dimitri from Paris. Everybody was wondering who were those guys, creating this crazy music in secret basements? They never wanted to be stars. All they wished was to make the youth move, all nights, all days. It’s hard to give a real definition of the movement. Cause at the beginning, the French touch was more about a spirit, a group of friends working together, having fun doing there job.
